The Network, Communication, and Collaboration Services branch of OCIO Technology Solutions provides data, voice, video, conferencing, and MS Office productivity services to the BC public service.

As a Service Manager you’ll be part of a team responsible for Leads the development and integration of IT Services to meet client goals and objectives and ensures that the business, financial and information technology needs of clients are met through the effective integration and provision of Shared IT Services.

The Service Manager applies IT and business knowledge and an understanding of products, services and processes to manage existing services and develop new services for the Province’s Messaging (e.g. MS Exchange, Exchange Online Protection and other related services) and/or SharePoint Services infrastructure.

This role manages the vendor and other 3rd party suppliers to ensure clients’ needs are met, services offered are relevant, and services are developed, ordered, implemented and delivered in accordance with contracted service obligations.

This position may be required to work on call and/or overtime.

In this role you’ll work closely with colleagues, vendors, and clients. You’ll plan, lead and implement Messaging and/or SharePoint solutions for client’s province-wide. Therefore, you have excellent communication skills and are great with people as well as technology. You are comfortable explaining concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You’re also adaptable, ready to manage multiple competing priorities in a constantly evolving environment. If all of this describes you, then we want you to join our team!

Job Requirements:

In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Degree in the computer science or related field and five years’ experience, or diploma in the computer science field and six years’ experience, or certification in the computer science field and seven years’ experience, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience in the computer science field.
  • 3 years’ experience providing business analysis on high risk projects, including management of financial and human resources. Preference may be given to applicants with 5 or more years’ experience.
  • 3 years’ experience in the supervision of staff.
  • Experience managing IM/IT services in a complex environment.
  • Experience negotiating contracts and managing IM/IT contracted services, preference may be given to applicants with 3 years or more.
  • This position may be required to work on call and/or overtime.
