The Kinesiologist will support the mission, vision and values of the Chatham-Kent Community Health Centres (CKCHC).  The Kinesiologist provides patient and family centered care in accordance with the relevant regulatory bodies, and embraces the principles of evidence-based treatment, best practice guidelines and CKCHC policies and procedures.  This position will be responsible for assisting with patient/family care activities such as exercise programs and health education.

  • Performs physical assessments, health/education counseling, treatments and other Kinesiology activities according to the College of Kinesiologist of Ontario (COKO)
  • Provides maintenance support for equipment and supplies, assists with inventory control and complete regular safety inspection on such equipment as assigned
  • Advocates for clients as warranted and facilitates connections between clients and community supports, in order to assist clients in accessing required resources
  • Collaborates with fellow members of the primary care and allied health professional teams, specifically Physiotherapists, to ensure clients receive comprehensive, competent and appropriate care
  • Identifies areas where the development of, or improvement to clinical and program protocols is needed; then assists in their development and implementation
  • Demonstrate the use of equipment and/or therapeutic techniques to clients, staff and documenting outcomes according to the COKO
  • Maintains electronic clinical records and client confidentiality and acts in an ethical and professional manner in accordance with the behaviour established by his/her professional body and the CKCHCs
  • Provides appropriate individualized exercise programs and conducts group education/orientation class for program participants
  • Designs individualized exercise programs and supervises client exercise in consultation and collaboration with Physiotherapist and other Kinesiologists
  • Assist program participates in recognizing the signs and symptoms of physical distress
  • Contributes to building professional and positive working relationships internally and externally
  • Collaborate with community agencies to identify, recommend and/or develop resources and materials, and participate in delivery of programs and services
  • Supervise graduate students in field placement practicum or internships, as requested
  • Assists in the achievement of program operational objectives by contributing to strategic planning and review; assisting with the identification and resolution of issues; attending meetings and communicating interdisciplinary clinical concerns; identifying and implementing system improvements
  • Respect the cultural diversity of the client, community and CKCHC
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and knowledge with Indigenous cultural values and traditions
  • Demonstrate a commitment to a safe environment for staff, clients and families by working in compliance with the CKCHC related policies, health and safety regulations and completing mandated training and educational sessions as required.
