An opportunity to make a difference in the lives of BC’s youth

The Maples Adolescent Treatment Centre, located on the traditional territories of the Kwikwetlem people, is a program of Specialized Intervention and Youth Justice Branch of the Ministry of Children and Family Development. The Maples is a designated provincial mental health facility providing on-site, community, outreach and ancillary services to collaboratively support youth, families and communities. The Maples service population consists of youth in British Columbia with significant psychiatric and/or behavioural difficulties, ages 12 to 17; as well as youth found Not Criminally Responsible by Reason of a Mental Disorder (NCRMD) or Unfit to Stand Trial under the Criminal Code of Canada & Youth Criminal Justice Act. Through a multi-disciplinary approach, our objective is to collaboratively enhance the capacity of communities to plan and care for challenging youth through a closer to home focus.

In your role as Forensic Psychologist, you will be responsible for the completion of comprehensive psychological assessments of youth referred to the Maples Adolescent Treatment Centre with significant and complex behavioral, developmental, attachment and psychiatric challenges for development of a CarePlan. As well, upon request and as caseload permits, you will provide clinical consultation to program staff.
