An exciting, career building opportunity for a Professional Engineer with experience in the Natural Resource Sector with project management expertise.

The primary purpose of the Engineering Branch is to provide a safe resource road network which balances public, community, First Nations, commercial and industrial use. This is done in a strategic and collaborative manner through sound engineering advice, services and support to foster safe access, protection of the environment, and public safety.  Engineering Branch is responsible for the development, monitoring of, and supports implementation of, the ministry forest engineering program to ensure compliance with all relevant Acts, Regulations, government policy, engineering standards, agreements and operational plans.

Engineering Branch also provides strategic leadership and recommends direction for the provincial engineering program, represents the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development on interagency committees and work groups, collaborates with other ministry’s and stakeholders on areas of mutual benefit, provides advice on engineering matters to the Ministry Executive, other branches and sections, forest regions and districts, other ministries and the public.

As one of the Area Engineers, you will actively engage in the planning, design, construction, maintenance and deactivation of various roads and engineered structures on the vast Forest Service Road network in our Province.  This position may also engage in Provincial emergency response as needed. This position ensures that bridges, roads and other structures are designed, built and maintained in compliance with relevant Acts, Regulations, government policy, engineering standards and agreements, including safety regulations.  Attention to fiscally responsible planning and execution of projects is critical in this role.

Your broad-ranging expertise is a valuable asset as you participate in, or lead local and provincial project teams and resolving technical design and other project issues. A collaborative approach is crucial to this role as you successfully establish and maintain productive working relationships with a wide variety of contacts including industry, contractors, environmental agencies, stakeholders and provincial and federal professionals. A skilled communicator, you plan, prepare and deliver effective presentations and training to diverse internal and external groups. If you are seeking to apply your sound professional engineering judgement and implement creative solutions in an important area, we look forward to your application.
