The Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development is responsible for stewardship of Provincial Crown land and natural resources, and protection of B.C.’s archaeological and heritage resources. Overseeing a land base of 94.8 million hectares, the Ministry supports the sustainable management of forest, mineral and land resources, the prosperity, viability and competitiveness of industries that use them, and public access for a wide range of activities such as hunting, fishing and recreation. The Ministry is responsible for policy development, operational management and implementation, and oversees over 50 statutes and associated regulations.
Reporting to a section head or excluded manager and working in a variety of settings, the Licensed Authorizations Officer provides professional advice and may make decisions regarding the allocation of resources and adjudication of resource authorizations for the Natural Resource Sector.

In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education, experience and professional designation requirement as outlined below:
Degree in the natural resource field or equivalent as recognized by the relevant association.
Registered, or immediately* eligible for registration, as a fully licensed Registered Professional Forester (RPF) with the Association of BC Forest Professionals (ABCFP). *Immediately means you are currently a fully licensed RPF in another Canadian Jurisdiction and can immediately transfer to the ABCFP.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in the forestry resource sector gained in the last five years, including experience with Forest Act cutting and road permits, timber appraisals, Forest Stewardship Plans, site plans, forest health, and silviculture prescriptions and treatments.
Experience in consulting, negotiating/mediating solutions and resolving conflicts with stakeholders and First Nations in forest resource management.
Please include your registration number with the Association of BC Forest Professionals (ABCFP) within your application as you must be a registered or immediately eligible for registration as a fully licensed Registered Professional Forester (RPF) with the ABCFP. If you are not yet registered with the ABCFP, please explain how you are immediately eligible (i.e. currently a registered RPF member in good standing in another Canadian jurisdiction and can immediately transfer to the ABCFP).
