As the Timber Pricing Forester, Systems your primary responsibility will be to manage the operation of the E-Commerce Appraisal System (ECAS) and your secondary responsibility will be to manage the functionality of the General Appraisal System (GAS). Your work to ensure the functionality of these systems ensures the collection of approximately 1 billion dollars in Crown stumpage annually from forest licensees. This involves closely analyzing appraisal data submitted by the forest industry for stumpage rate determinations and establishing new data requirements from industry.
Not only are you a technical expert with experience working with complex scientific data, but you are also skilled at building and maintaining cooperative and productive working relationships with stakeholders. Your other responsibilities in this role will include assisting and supporting the Timber Pricing Section Manager in the development of timber pricing policies, providing reports and data analysis to Auditors and Legal Counsel as well as executing studies to improve Ministry procedures that enhance stumpage calculation efficiencies.

In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:
Bachelor of Science in Forestry, Natural Resources or Forest Engineering with a minimum 3 years (5 years preferred) current forestry-related experience, one of which must be in stumpage appraisals and timber pricing systems;
Registered as a Professional Forester (RPF) or eligible to register as an RPF with the Association of B.C. Forest Professionals within six months of the position start date.
A minimum of one year experience working with complex scientific data and computer system databases and applications and knowledge of the IT development cycle.
Experience managing and organizing concurrent projects while taking into consideration changing priorities and deadlines, emerging issues, and impacts of decisions.
Experience leading diverse teams of administrative, technical and professional staff including developing and evaluating performance goals, coaching, team-building, and mentoring.
Preference may be given to candidates with one or more years of supervisory experience gained within the last 5 years.
