Position Summary
The East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook, B.C., is looking for a Casual Medical Device Reprocessing Technician/Perioperative Aide to join their team!

this position assists the surgical team with the preparation of the Operating Room (OR) theaters and the positioning and preparation of the surgical patients and related supplies/equipment. Transports patients, specimens, equipment and supplies within the perioperative area. The attendant will be knowledgeable in the use, care and location of perioperative equipment and supplies. Restocks supplies in theatres and storage areas. Provides input to the surgical team regarding patient observations and interactions. This position also performs a series of detailed technical duties related to the decontamination, sterilization, reassembly, function testing and distribution of medical and/or surgical supplies and instruments for various areas of the hospital; and performs related clerical duties and record keeping.

This is a Casual opportunity. Casual means there are no guaranteed hours and work requirements can vary from 0 – 37.5 hours per week.

Education, Training and Experience:
Grade 12, successful completion of Sterile Processing Course, plus one year’s recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills and Abilities:
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Mathematical aptitude.
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
Ability to organize work.
Ability to operate related equipment.
Knowledge of surgical and medical terminology.
