Position Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our Mental Health Community Crisis Response team in Kelowna.

This position will primarily work with local police, travelling in the RCMP cruiser to respond to mental health calls, while remaining a member of the overall Community Response Team (CRT). The successful RN/RPN applicant will also help to support mental health training and education for RCMP members and therefore additional RCMP security clearance will be required for this position.

Our crisis response team are responsible for ensuring that persons with serious severe and persistent mental health problems and/or problematic substance use who may or may not be in crisis have access to timely, responsive, evidence-based treatment. You will provide assessment, treatment, case management, community support, and as required, urgent response to clients who may also have serious functional impairment in the domains of physical health and personal, family, financial, occupational, and social life. Functioning as the primary clinician, you will utilize a variety of specialized treatment modalities/therapies for individuals, groups of clients and/or their families.

We are looking for Nurses who are passionate about working with mental health and substance use clients, who can demonstrate their ability to provide brief mental health and substance use assessments of clients in crisis and quickly adapt to a variety of community settings, clinics and acute care environments.

This is a casual position which means that hours are not guaranteed and may vary. Days of work may be Tuesday to Friday on an as needed basis and shift times are 10:00-19:59.

Graduation from an approved school of nursing.
Two years’ of recent related MHSU experience in the assigned clinical area(s) (such as Adult Short Term Assessment and Treatment (ASTAT), Adult Community Support Services (ACSS), Urgent Response, Elderly Services, Alcohol & Drug) or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).

Current valid B.C. driver’s license
