Position Summary : The Faculty of Music, Wilfrid Laurier University, requires part-

time contract academic staff (CAS) to teach the course listed below in the Spring Term 2019 to be taught at the Waterloo Campus.

MU353 (1.0 credit) – Inclusive Arts for Children – Drama Instructor

This course combines theoretical and practical learning in the creative arts, culminating in students’ provision of leadership at an inclusive creative arts day-camp at KidsAbility: “Arts Express”. During the academic component of this course, students engage in experiential modules in visual art, music, dance, and drama, with a focus on the therapeutic use of these art forms in working with children with special needs. Process-learning and creativity are emphasized, as students develop their skills in designing and implementing inclusive experiences in the arts. In the camp component, students directly apply the knowledge and practical experience they have gained in order to act as student leaders. Camp finishes with a public performance in the recital hall at Wilfrid Laurier University for families and the community.

Dates of Instruction: May 13 & 14, 2019 (6 hours total instruction)

Additional Administrative Work: 11 hours. This drama instructor position entails 8 hours of administrative responsibility at KidsAbility and WLU (plus 3 hours of planning meetings) for the Arts Express Camp (July 8 – 12, 2019).

Salary $1350.00 that includes 4% in lieu of benefits and 4% in lieu of vacation (plus a stipend of $385 for camp week and planning meetings).
