Position Summary : The Faculty of Music, Wilfrid Laurier University, requires part-time contract academic staff (CAS) to teach the course listed below in the Winter Term 2018 to be taught at the Waterloo Campus. Following is a brief description of the course to indicate the content and level of difficulty. We would be happy to provide additional information that may be required.
MU607 Music-Centred Psychotherapy Supervision – 0.5 credit
Through the exploration of group analytic music therapy and supervision processes, students present their own case material and learn to apply knowledge of the therapists’ self on the therapeutic process. The interplay between musical and verbal evaluation is a crucial facet of the course, and students learn to structure and facilitate the therapeutic process by observing verbal and musical psychotherapeutic group interventions and analysis of musical and psychotherapeutic processes. The concepts of safe and effective use of self in the therapeutic relationship, vicarious and secondary traumatization, compassion fatigue, and burn out will be explored. Winter Term. Thursdays from 1:00 – 3:50pm.
Rate of pay for 0.5 undergraduate and graduate intramural courses: $ 7407.40 plus 4% in lieu of benefits and 4% in lieu of vacation. Total classroom hours for a 0.5 credit weight course: 36 hours.
