Position Summary:

The Faculty of Music, Wilfrid Laurier University, requires part-time contract academic staff (CAS) to teach the course listed below in the Spring Term 2018 to be taught at the Waterloo Campus. Following is a brief description of the course to indicate the content and level of difficulty. We would be happy to provide additional information that may be required.

For graduate music therapy supervision, applicants must be accredited Music Therapists and hold an MMT (Master of Music Therapy) degree, and have a minimum of 2500 hours of clinical practice beyond their internship, and a minimum of 400 hours of undergraduate clinical supervisory experience over not less than three years.

MU610 – Music Psychotherapy Placement V– 0.5 credit

This course is a full-time clinical placement. Spring Term. Students gain advanced clinical experience in music psychotherapy with groups and individual clients. Weekly supervision is provided by a qualified and experienced music therapist. There is a strong preference for applicants with Aesthetic Music Therapy training and experience with a variety of client populations. The successful applicants will be MTA Members in good standing, and must provide evidence that they meet each of the following CPRO mandated qualifications/requirements:

  • The supervisor must be a member in good standing of a regulatory college whose members may practise psychotherapy.
  • The supervisor must have five years’ extensive clinical experience accrued after graduation.
  • The supervisor must meet CRPO’s “independent practice” requirement of completion of 1000 direct client contact hours and 150 hours of clinical supervision (NB. Cannot be qualifying members).
  • The supervisor must have completed 30 hours of directed learning in providing clinical supervision.
  • The supervisor must provide a signed declaration that they understand CRPO’s definitions of clinical supervision, clinical supervisor, and the scope of practice of psychotherapy.
  • The supervisor must provide a statement describing their approach to providing supervision.

Hourly rate of pay for Music Therapy supervision: $54.18 – $72.21 per hour plus 4% in lieu of benefits and 4% in lieu of vacation.
