Position Summary :
The Faculty of Music, Wilfrid Laurier University, requires part-time contract academic staff (CAS) to teach the course listed below in the Spring Term 2018 to be taught at the Waterloo Campus. Following is a brief description of the course to indicate the content and level of difficulty. We would be happy to provide additional information that may be required.
MU623 – New Media, Business Administration, and Marketing – 0.5 credit
This is a required course in the MA (Community Music) program. Strategies for community musicians to develop sustainable arts projects using business-based startup methods will be explored. Basic principles of marketing, finance, fundraising, sponsorships and grant funding will be introduced, and there will be a focus on social media as a marketing tool. Emphasis will be placed on conceptual models which are then applied to real world examples. An entrepreneurial perspective is applied to arts administration. A basic understanding of the foundational principles of community music is preferred. Spring Term – Wednesdays – 7:00 – 9:50pm.
Rate of pay for 0.5 graduate (with seniority) intramural courses: $ 7434.75 plus 4% in lieu of benefits and 4% in lieu of vacation. Total classroom hours for a 0.5 credit weight course: 36 hours.
