Youth Forensic Psychiatric Services (YFPS) is mandated to provide inpatient and outpatient Court-ordered and Court- related assessment and treatment services to young persons pursuant to the Youth Criminal Justice Act as well as other relevant federal and provincial statutes. YFPS also provides services to young persons found unfit to stand trial and those youth found not criminally responsible due to a mental disorder (NCRMD), pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada. Acts as a primary nursing therapist, case manager or co-therapist. Provides counselling and treatment with a nursing focus to adolescent clients within the collaborative framework of a multi-disciplinary team. Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • A Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing; or an Advanced Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing; or a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing with extensive experience in Community Psychiatric Nursing with youth and involuntary clients.
  • Registered with CRPNBC or CRNBC as a current and practising registrant. Prefer experience in forensic psychiatric nursing and experience with youth who have offended. Prefer post-graduate training in sociology, psychology or criminology.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in psychiatric nursing.  Preferably 2 years in a forensic setting with adolescents.

NOTE: If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES).
