Position Summary
The Nurse Practitioner position for the Arrhythmia clinic is a dynamic role within cardiology services at KGH involving care of Atrial Fibrillation (AF) and Electrophysiology patients referred for specialist care. The focus is on prevention of stroke, heart failure and ultimately hospitalizations/emergency room visits related to AF, while optimizing symptoms and seeking to improve quality of life. This position will encompass the established AF NP role and expand to include electrophysiology (EP) as the EP program is established in the Fall of 2019. The NP works as a member of the collaborative Arrhythmia team alongside other Arrhythmia NPs, Electrophysiologists, Cardiologists, RNs, ECG technicians and unit clerks. The Arrhythmia clinic facilitates referral and access to cardioversion and EP procedures related to the management of AF, as well as provides pre-care and follow up for patients who have undergone such procedures. The role further encompasses education, research, and facilitates relationships with other healthcare providers to optimize Arrhythmia care delivery in systems and communities.
Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience:
• Required NP experience x2 years
• Cardiac/ Arrhythmia/ /Electrophysiology NP or RN experience Preferred
• Current registration and exam qualified as a Nurse Practitioner with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP)
