The Corrections Branch plays a leading role in the criminal justice system by protecting the community through offender management and control.  The Branch manages community work service and supports offenders to make positive changes in their behaviour and attitudes.

Adult Custody provides custodial supervision for adults sentenced to incarceration and those remanded to custody.  It provides rehabilitative and educational programs to inmates.

Adult Custody is one of two divisions of the Corrections Branch and is responsible for the care of approximately 2,200 male and female inmates throughout eleven correctional centres in BC.

This position is responsible for providing secretarial and clerical support to the Management team, assist and perform various duties and procedures for the Warden’s Assistant, as well as assisting the Receptionist with their job duties. Covers the Staffing Warden’s Assistant when necessary. Duties include typing, data entry, assisting staff and operating switchboard.

In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year recent (within last three years) administrative work experience, 3 years administrative work experience preferred, OR a combination of experience and education. A combination of experience and education will include recent administrative work experience with financial or administration post-secondary education.
  • Preference may also be given to applicants with experience working in a criminal justice environment and/or training/experience with JUSTIN and CORNET systems.
  • Experience/training in keyboarding, Microsoft Word, Excel spreadsheet, Access Data Base, Microsoft Outlook
  • 50 words per minute keyboarding speed.
