Reporting to and under the direction of the Band Administrator, the Skwlax Aboriginal Interest Development (S.A.I.D.) Office Manager is responsible for planning, directing, controlling, and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the SAID office.




  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Little Shuswap Lake policies and procedures;
  • Plans, directs and ensures efficient operations of the SAID department;
  • Manages the SAID department staff and oversees the day-to-day administrative, clerical, technical and research functions;
  • Oversees and co-ordinates office administrative procedures and reviews, evaluates and implements new procedures as required;
  • Establishes work priorities, delegate work and ensures deadlines are met and procedures are adhered to;
  • Ensures efficient financial management, including budget development, tracking and allocation of expenses, invoicing and expenditures;
  • Develops and submits on a monthly basis management and operational reports;
  • Recruits, hires and provides training and orientation to all employees;
  • Ensures all employees have been instructed on and adhere to safety practices and work safe regulations;
  • Maintains accurate time sheets, approval and time-off requests;
  • Maintains and approves office supplies and equipment;
  • Develops and maintains an office filing system, including security of files and records;
  • Resolves problems, complaints and other matters;
  • Establishes and maintains a positive, professional, friendly and engaging services to all clients and stakeholders;
  • Maintains the office in a clean and professional manner;
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.





  • Minimum of grade 12 or equivalent
  • Post secondary education in a related area e.g. Business or Public Administration or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of 3 -5 years’ experience in an office managerial/supervisor position
  • Demonstrated financial management skills
  • Project management experience, as asset
  • Experience within a First Nations organization
  • Knowledge of First Nation issues, culture and history
  • Experience and knowledge with Microsoft software and products
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all levels of the company and external contacts
  • Diplomacy, tact and confidentiality in dealing with a variety of people and information
  • Reliability and dependability
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated organizational skills
  • Self motivated and initiative are mandatory because of general supervision
  • Ability to work in a team orientated environment
  • Flexibility is a must to adapt to changing work priorities
  • Good judgement must be exercise at all times
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, as some travel required;
