Full Time Position

The Personal Fitness Trainer is responsible to the Manager, Tyendinaga Fitness Resource Centre. The Personal Trainer will follow the health and fitness guidelines and be responsible for the one-one training and work with a variety of groups at the “Tyendinaga Fitness Resource Centre”.

The Incumbent will provide excellent customer service in a safe, enjoyable and positive environment that is educational and motivational.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Providing a fun, safe, clean environment for members
  • Working one on one with members to develop a tailored fitness program
  • Demonstrating and teaching members proper workout and lifting techniques
  • Completing reports and maintaining statistics and documentation deemed necessary through policies and guidelines
  • Encouraging and modelling a healthy lifestyle for clients
  • Other duties as required

Education and Experience:

  • Diploma in a post-secondary program in Health or Recreation Leadership, or demonstrated applicable work experience
  • Must be a Certified Personal Trainer or Fitness Instructor
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in the area of fitness preferred

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and computer based skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent knowledge of all health and safety practices
  • Work well as a team
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Good knowledge of healthy lifestyles and an ability to nurture and respect all aspects of wellness
  • Knowledge of Aboriginal health issues
  • Knowledge of health resources

Successful candidate must:

  • Possess a Clear Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check and maintain a High level of Confidentiality
  • Possess current CPR, First Aid certification
