The Consumer Taxation Programs Branch (CTPB) is responsible for the effective and efficient administration of all provincial consumer tax programs on behalf of the Ministry of Finance (Ministry) including tobacco tax, motor fuel tax, carbon tax, and provincial sales tax.

As a Senior Rulings Analyst, you will be a member of a talented and accountable group of analysts responsible for helping the ministry plan, analyze, develop and coordinate its administration of consumption taxes, non-tax revenue and collection policies.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • A combination of a post-graduate degree (such as an MBA, MPA or equivalent) and two (2) years of related experience working in a field which required knowledge of business and industry practices, legal documents and the ability to interpret legislation;   OR,
  • a law degree or Canadian accounting designation and two (2) years of related experience including exposure to a wide variety of businesses and industries and experience researching and interpreting legislation;  OR,
  • a combination of a post-secondary degree and a minimum of two (2) years of related experience in a field requiring knowledge of business and industry practices, legal documents and the ability to interpret legislation.
  • Preference may be given to a law degree.
