Senior Policy Analyst – Offsets

This position is located in Victoria, BC.

The Climate Action Secretariat [CAS] is the central government agency responsible for leading and coordinating research, analysis, development and implementation of programs, policies and legislation enabling mitigation of and adaptation to climate change. CAS works collaboratively across the provincial public sector, other orders of government, research institutions, non-governmental organizations, and professional and industry associations to achieve provincial climate change goals. The Industrial Reporting and Control [IRC] team within CAS is responsible for the implementation and administration of the Greenhouse Gas Industrial Reporting and Control Act [GGIRCA] and its regulations.

As a member of the IRC team, you are responsible for implementing the GGIRCA compliance program, leading offset issuances, maintaining the BC Carbon Registry and other related IRC Team priorities.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

To be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • A university degree in public administration, business administration, law, economics, social sciences, natural resource management, or equivalent, and 3 years of experience.  Preference may be given for a graduate degree.
  • Three or more years’ combined experience in the following capacities:
    • Developing legislation, regulation, policy and programs.
    • Leading project working groups/committees within government or external stakeholders.
    • Engaging stakeholders and making oral presentations.
    • Concisely and persuasively writing a range of documents/content.
    • Working with senior officials and providing advice and recommendations.

Preferred:

  • Experience working with other governments, municipal, provincial or federal.
