The Strategic Policy and Initiatives Branch is a new branch within the Workforce and Innovation Division of Advanced Education Skills and Training. The branch addresses the emerging workforce and workplace development challenges through strategic initiatives, policy development and working directly with the primary sectors throughout BC’s diverse economy to help employers understand and respond to changing labour market demands.
Reporting to a Director or senior manager, the Senior Policy Analyst will lead the research, analysis, development and implementation of strategic policies and/or initiatives, governance frameworks and legislation for the Division. The Senior Policy Analyst leads broad research agendas and cross-ministry engagement to develop a deep understanding of and innovative approaches to addressing emerging labour market challenges. The Senior Policy Analyst is expected to proactively lead internal and external engagement processes and advise on recommended policy and program changes to adjust to diverse labour market environments.

Job Requirements: In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:
Graduate degree and a minimum of three years of relevant experience or an undergraduate degree and a minimum of five years of relevant experience.
Relevant experience includes:
Experience in planning and coordinating complex projects/assignment.
Experience managing internal and external relationships with diverse stakeholders and coordinating consultation sessions.
Experience in concisely and persuasively writing a range of documents/content.
Experience in conducting research, analyzing information, articulating alternatives, drawing conclusions and forming recommendations to decision makers on complex problems.
Experience in the development of legislation, regulation and policy.
Preference may be given to candidates with experience working with Indigenous peoples or organizations.
Preference may be given to candidates with demonstrated experience of the trades training system.
