Policy Analyst

Do you have extensive knowledge and experience in policy development and Indigenous culture? If so, than you would be well-suited for this position as a Policy Analyst with the Ministry of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation.

The successful candidate will be employed through the Ministry, but work will be performed within the Chiefs of Ontario organization.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:

  • coordinate and track key policy initiatives of mutual concern for the benefit of First Nations and the Government of Ontario
  • liaise with technical policy staff at Chiefs of Ontario, Political Territorial Organizations, First Nation communities, and Ontario ministries in order to facilitate the flow of information and to track the status of priority initiatives
  • coordinate information and provide analysis and recommendations on how to facilitate progress when required
  • establish networks and build effective relationships with all levels of leadership/government and other experts as required
  • create briefings and reports for both internal and external communications

How do I qualify?

Policy development knowledge:

  • in-depth understanding of policy development, intergovernmental processes, and Ontario and First Nation policy objectives
  • extensive knowledge of current Federal and Provincial legislation, policy and programs that impacts First Nation citizens

Knowledge of Indigenous culture:

  • extensive knowledge of Indigenous culture, history, values, and protocol

Interpersonal and communication skills:

  • demonstrated communication skills to express ideas clearly and concisely; and the ability to facilitate, provide information, and influence discussion
  • proven interpersonal skills and an ability to collaborate and liaise with staff at Chiefs of Ontario, Political Territorial Organizations, First Nation communities, and Ontario ministries

Analytical skills:

  • proven experience and ability in conducting research, analysis and problem-solving
  • ability to use good judgment, political acuity, and to make informed recommendations that take multiple, competing perspectives into account

Salary Range: $59,655 – $83,402 per year
