Position Summary
The Project Coordinator is responsible for planning and evaluating the IH,Virtual Care Initiative. The initiatives are aligned with the Joint Standing Committee on Rural Issues Virtual Care Initiative and Interior Health (IH) strategic goals and direction, and the position works in close alignment with the CIO portfolio to ensure the integration of work. In addition, the Project Coordinator works in collaboration with key stakeholders both internal and external to the organization with a commitment to the mission, vision and strategic directions of IH.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Utilizes standard project management methodology and a collaborative approach to develop project charters, schedules, timelines, and specific processes for accomplishing the required workplan.

• Develops and implements communication strategies.

• Develops comprehensive project plans with input from key stakeholders as required.

• Leads the planning and implementation of the project.

• Collaboratively executes and monitors all milestones, deliverables, approvals, and sign-offs.

• Facilitates ongoing consultation with key stakeholders to identify unmet or emerging needs and provides leadership and support in the development of strategies to meet these needs.

• Serves as the central contact/resource person related to the project and identifies and resolves arising issues through negotiation and conflict resolution with stakeholders.

• Leads and coordinates activities of project teams to ensure the project progresses on schedule.

• Develops and fosters relationships with key internal and external stakeholders required to execute and evaluate the project.

• Prepares regular project summaries and updates for the project implementation committee, project sponsors, or others as requested by the project implementation committee.

• Performs other related duties and/or projects as assigned.

Qualifications
Education, Training, and Experience
• A university degree in a health or business-related field.
• Five years of experience with involvement in project/change management, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Demonstrate knowledge, experience, and understanding of Aboriginal people and their culture.
• Knowledge of federal, provincial, territorial, regional and Aboriginal organizations mandated to provide health services.

Skills and Abilities
• Knowledge of principles and processes related to Quality Improvement.
• Experience in coordinating team projects in complex environments.
• Knowledge of project management processes, project development and implementation, and change management processes.
• Knowledge of the scope of practice of Registered Nursing and Licensed Practical Nursing staff and the roles of other health disciplines in multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated analytical, statistical, research, and indicator development skills.
• Superior writing and verbal communication abilities and independent problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
• Ability to work under minimal direct supervision with demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated diplomacy in managing complex stakeholder groups in an issues management context.
• Ability to organize work, handle multiple projects, work under the pressure of deadlines, and coordinate work with a variety of staff and external partners.
• Ability to plan, prioritize, and develop achievable objectives.
• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• A valid BC driver’s license and access to a personal car may be required.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
