Job Description

Major Responsibilities:

  • Negotiates buying price with property owners/solicitors within predetermined limits and recommends the acquisition.
  • Prepares and processes documents related to expropriation projects. Drafts sales agreements and correspondence, issues and accepts tender forms, receives and records deposit cheques.
  • Conducts land registry searches, corporate searches and researches real estate board listings.
  • Conducts internal/external inspection of property. Takes measurements and photographs for appraisal purposes.
  • Researches properties to establish value. Prepares appraisal reports.
  • Maintains statistical records concerning land sales.
  • Prepares draft ads, diagrams of property, offers, reports, correspondence, etc.
  • Liaises with Legal Services to review real estate documents.
  • Responds to inquiries from property owners respecting acquisition projects.

Key Qualifications:

Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:

  1. Experience in real estate practice and in the use of recognized methods of land and building valuation.
  2. Experience in negotiating for the sale of real estate.
  3. Working experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  4. Experience in formal report writing.

You must also have:

  • Ability to prioritize competing demands, managing ongoing project files and completing real estate assignments.
  • Knowledge of City policy and procedures pertaining to Real Estate matters.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with senior management, consultants, staff, elected officials and the public.
  • Ability to carry out title searches.
