Since 1910, Mount Royal University has built a reputation on a strong, liberal education foundation with an undergraduate focus and more than a century later, the University remains responsive to the needs of the community through an enduring commitment to this legacy. As a result, Mount Royal is uniquely poised to become Canada’s leading undergraduate-only post-secondary institution. With a critical mass of students and programs Mount Royal provides a broad array of programs but all with a strong focus on small class sizes, personalized learning and a faculty dedicated to learner excellence and student success.

Offering over 12 baccalaureate degrees with over 31 majors in four different academic faculties to over 13,000 students, Mount Royal has built a reputation as an institution that prepares students for a lifetime of opportunities, workplace careers, graduate and professional schools, life-long learning and adapting to the changing demands of society. Strong student-faculty interaction provides research opportunities for undergraduates and defines “exceptional undergraduate experience.” As a newer university, Mount Royal continues to build research capacity and celebrate both applied and pure contributions to research.

Reporting to the President, the Provost and Vice-President, Academic will be a key member of the senior administrative team of the University and will champion excellence and innovation in teaching, scholarship and service to the community. The Provost will lead the faculty in the implementation of the academic plan in alignment with the University’s Strategic Plan and in collaboration with the broader community. As Mount Royal continues to grow as a university, the Provost will work with a strong team of Deans and Associate Vice-Presidents to maintain a focus on students, community engagement and the integration of teaching and research. Working collaboratively with faculty and academic leaders, the Provost will build upon a strong history of pedagogical innovation and facilitate the collaborative development of Mount Royal’s existing strengths and experience in curriculum development, course delivery, strategic community partnerships, essential experiential learning opportunities, and undergraduate research opportunities.

As the ideal candidate, you are an exceptional leader with a successful record of leading engaged and dedicated faculty and staff. You have a demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively to provide a superior learning environment for students and increased research opportunities for faculty. An active listener with a history of managing change in a consultative manner, you will lead team driven solutions that foster a vibrant academic culture and support faculty as they strive for continual enhancement of their teaching and scholarship. You are an accomplished professor with a successful record of senior academic administrative leadership and an understanding of research activity and its place in an undergraduate university. Your demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and the value of a high-quality undergraduate education will allow you to serve as a successful champion of Mount Royal’s vision and mission.

All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority. Mount Royal University hires on the basis of merit and is strongly committed to fostering diversity as a source of excellence, intellectual and cultural enrichment, and social strength. We welcome applications from those who would contribute to the further diversification of our staff, faculty and their scholarship including but not limited to Indigenous Peoples, women, persons with disabilities and persons of any sexual or gender identity, ethnic, national or socio-economic background, religion or age.
