We currently have an opportunity to join the Laurier community as a Recruitment and Social Media Specialist.

By joining our team you’ll help share the stories behind our innovative programming, welcoming community and engaged student body through print, digital marketing and social media, with a keen focus on their relationship to student recruitment. Your stories will directly impact our community and recruitment success, and further elevate the profile of the Faculty of Music at Wilfrid Laurier University.

The normal hours of work are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday.

Accountabilities :

  • This position will report to the Senior Administrative Officer, with day-to-day direction provided by the Outreach and Student Recruitment Coordinator. This role will primarily focus on two areas: sharing success stories of current students, faculty and alumni to enhance Laurier’s national reputation, and assisting with outreach initiatives.
  • 1) Telling our story
    Based on research and consultation, you will write engaging 350 – 600-word stories to highlight the successes happening in the Laurier Faculty of Music community;
  • Research current students, faculty and alumni initiatives to create a database of potential stories to share amongst our stakeholders (particular focus on community placements and experiential learning);
  • Refine social media communications plan and execute across social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.);
  • Create content and collateral, including regular tweets and posts;
  • Start a student blog/digital ambassador team with current students contributing content via social media.
  • 2) Outreach Initiatives:
    Analyze Faculty of Music competitors and determine what sets them apart by how they are telling the stories of their student, faculty and alumni initiatives;
  • Make recommendations based on research of student initiatives for new community events on-campus;
  • Assist Outreach and Student Recruitment Coordinator by finding connections between Laurier student initiatives and high schools taking on similar initiatives, in order to make recruitment connections/visit opportunities.

Qualifications :

  • University degree in Music, Communication and/or Marketing and a minimum of one year
    related work experience.
  • Passion for storytelling and love of arts and culture, to scale social media impact;
  • Background in music considered an asset;
  • Strong analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative;
  • Demonstrated ability to produce and edit high-quality written materials (articles, PSAs);
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Experience in designing, writing and executing effective social media and email campaigns;
  • Highly organized and highly flexible to perform a multifunctional role on a small, nimble
    team;
  • Self-motivated and proactive, able to work with a high degree of autonomy.

Grade : WLUSA-06
Salary : $28.85-$33.93
Salary Notes : This is a full-time, limited term position until May 30, 2019. The anticipated start date for this position is February 1, 2019.
