The Education Analytics Branch enables the K-12 sector in B.C. to be a world leader in the use of education data to support program and strategic planning, system performance and quality delivery of personalised education.  The Branch is comprised of four units.

The Research Officer coordinates data exchanges within and between the Ministry of Education and external organizations and researchers to ensure that the information is used to improve understanding of the educational system and to improve service delivery. The analyst will spend the majority of their time extracting data from large Ministry databases, and working on ongoing Education Data Warehouse (EDW) development.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or social sciences field OR;
  • Related diploma plus four years related experience OR;
  • Related certificate plus six years related experience OR;
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Experience with SQL programming. Preference may be given to applicants with 2 or more years’ experience.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Experience with relational database and/or object-oriented database modeling.
  • Experience with the use of data analysis.
  • Experience with using data warehousing (DWH) techniques.
  • Experience using data management principles.
  • Experience developing of information dashboards.
