Job Summary:

Outrigger is a family-run, neighbourhood oriented restaurant in the heart of Toronto’s Beaches. Located at the corner of Queen Street East and Beech Avenue, Outrigger offers old-fashioned comfort food and a range of international cuisine. We are looking for a candidate with proven experience in a supervisory role in restaurant management and/or hospitality who can provide sophisticated guest-focused service, ensure compliance with all policies and procedures, and effectively manage through strong interpersonal skills and knowledge of restaurant systems and operations.

Nature of Employment: Permanent Full-time, Shift and Flexible Hours, Evening and Weekend Availability Required

Hours: 40 hours per week

Salary: $21.00 per hour

Benefits: 4% Vacation Pay

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure courteous and superior quality service is provided to all customers
  • Create an efficient and safe restaurant environment and provide professional service to guests in an effective and dynamic manner through highly responsive supervision
  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain professional composure at all times and possess excellent problem solving and conflict management skills
  • Communicates with service and kitchen staff regarding reservations and/or special events
  • Conducts pre-shift, pre-meal and/or pre-event meetings with all necessary staff
  • Maintains member and guest satisfaction by handing inquiries, concerns or comments and acquiring feedback from members/guests and co-workers in order to ensure satisfaction and/or implement service improvement ideas; developing new concepts to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Maintain consistency of service by being aware of and prepared for all course events, large parties and reservations affecting food and beverage service operations
  • Maintain and conduct inventory checks
  • Develop, implement and analyze budgets
  • Participate in marketing plans and implementation
  • Set staff work schedules and monitor staff performance
  • Train and supervise staff
  • Ensure health and safety regulations are followed,
  • Enforce all health and safety/sanitation standards
  • Negotiate arrangements with suppliers for food and other supplies

Minimum Skills Requirements

  • Completion of Secondary School is required;
  • Vocational or technical training or college diploma in hospitality or hotel management;
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a restaurant manager or other supervisory role in the hospitality industry is required;
  • Must be dependable, reliable and have effective interpersonal skills.
