General Accountabilities:

  • Prepare and maintain meter registration, planning, and data estimate documentation, records and data systems to ensure accurate and auditable Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) equipment as per regulatory requirements.
  • Provide coordination, advice, guidance and training to internal and external personnel on matters related AMI projects, programs, equipment, associated systems, work programs and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in developing standards and procedures, maintaining liaison with regulatory bodies, suppliers and other external organizations and support the resolution of AMI equipment issues.
  • Assist in the development of new AMI Equipment and related support system technologies and programs.

Essential Competencies:

  • Ability to assist and support AMI Equipment programs and projects.
  • Ability to understand and create and review technical AMI registration documentation
  • Ability to analyze problems in AMI Equipment and support systems and implement solutions.
  • Ability to provide technical assistance and to provide training to new staff.
  • Demonstrated project and program management support skills
  • Self-starter, capable of working with little supervision given only general direction.

Essential Experience and Qualifications:

  • Requires knowledge of electrical theory and engineering science to assist in the development of AMI Equipment policies and programs affecting AMI equipment and systems.
  • Requires a knowledge of project management, consulting and quantitative analysis of electrical energy distribution,
  • Advanced Metering Infrastructure, and utilization.
  • Requires a knowledge of design theory to prepare designs and specifications for AMI equipment.
  • Requires a knowledge of computer technology to utilize various software applications for the preparation ofvarious technical reports.
  • Requires a good knowledge of English to communicate effectively with internal and external contacts and in the preparation of presentations. This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired in and equivalent to a four year university education in an appropriate field such as electrical engineering.
  • Requires experience with various aspects of the AMI systems and other utility practices to understand methods of supporting and improving regulatory compliance and customer relations.
  • Requires experience to understand interrelated activities of other departments and business units.
  • Requires an understanding of the various procedures and practices affecting Advanced Metering Infrastructure.
  • Requires experience with troubleshooting AMI equipment systems during breakdowns or due to faulty equipment.
  • Requires experience with federal and provincial regulatory requirements related to AMI systems, specifically,Measurement Canada Rules and Regulations, IESO Market Rules, IESO Meter Trouble Reporting processes, IESO MDM/R.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of AMI systems as gained through engineering design or practical experience.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g. Measurement Canada, IESO) and Hydro One standards including market rules AMI equipment and systems design and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of AMI support systems and test equipment.
  • Experience in AMI equipment registration and records systems.
