Security Officers

Two (2) Permanent Full-Time Positions

Positions Number 90122 

We are looking for experienced Security Officers to join our Visitor Services and Corporate Security Division. Reporting to the Team Leader, Security Services, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring the physical security of the Canadian Museum of History and Canadian War Museum assets;
  • Protecting the National Collections;
  • Ensuring safety to the visiting public, the special guests and the CMH personnel. 

Successful candidates have the following qualifications, which are a deciding measure of success for this challenging opportunity: 

A minimum of (6) months experience: 

    • Directly related to the field of security;
    • In writing reports;
    • In implementing control measures in problematic situations.

Knowledge of:

  • Physical and practical security practices (including safety zones, security perimeter and protection of people and property);
  • Safety equipment. 

Other conditions of employment:

  • Standard First Aid Certification;
  • CPR, level C Certification;
  • Valid driver’s license;
  • Canadian Museum of History Security Officer Training Program;
  • Canadian Museum of History Control Room Officer Training Program.

Since you will be working in a highly computerized environment, a demonstrated experience of word processing (Word), electronic spreadsheet (Excel), presentation (Power Point) and electronic mail (Outlook) is required.

Education: College Diploma in Law Enforcement or an accredited professional training in security or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
