Senior Area Vehicle Inspector
Salary:  $59,449.17 to $67,894.79 annually

As a mobile Enforcement Officer, the Area Vehicle Inspector independently monitors and inspects vehicles, loads, licences, insurance, drivers and carriers to ensure the protection of the highway infrastructure and public safety through enforcement and education, pertaining to the Motor Vehicle Act, Commercial Transport Act, Dangerous Goods Act, Motor Fuel Tax Act, Transportation Act, Passenger Transportation Act and all pursuant regulations, programs and standards. This position has an increased emphasis on inspecting and certifying school buses for safety and on auditing inspection facilities for compliance with programs and procedures. This position uses expertise and authority in vehicle mechanical conditions and operates with a functional job title of Area Vehicle Inspector for the purposes of enforcement authorities.

Qualifications for this role include:
⦁    Certified Journeyman Mechanic in heavy duty mechanics, commercial transport mechanic or automotive mechanic
⦁    Must have a valid Driver’s license
Preferred Applicants would possess
⦁    Preference given to those that have the courses from the Justice Institute of BC Investigative and Enforcement Skills Certificate Program, as well as completion of authorized inspector certificate, air brake endorsement, certificate or training. As well, preference given to those with experience delivering and conducting presentations and seminars and experience regarding Road Transportation and or Law Enforcement
⦁    Experience working with commercial vehicles.
⦁    Class 1 or 3 license.
