Senior Bridge Seismic and Structural Health Monitoring Engineer
Salary $71,947.25 – $93,815.56 annually + 5.5% Recruitment & Retention Adjustment

The Provincial Engineering Program provides for the delivery of expert professional advice and multidisciplinary specialist support services in Highway Design and Survey Engineering, Structural Engineering, Geotechnical and Materials Engineering, Traffic Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Highway Environmental Services. The Provincial Engineering Program ensures that expenditures on the highway system yield a maximum benefit to the motoring public by directing a rigorous value analysis of engineering projects, and through extensive consultation with other transportation agencies and local governments.

The Engineering Program ensures that the Ministry is kept current in regard to engineering and technological developments and advancements related to highway and bridge infrastructure standards, design, construction, maintenance and operation.

This position leads the development and implementation of the Ministry’s bridge seismic design, seismic retrofit and bridge monitoring policy, standards and codes and provides supervision and professional oversight to licensed professional staff.

Qualifications for this role include:

⦁    Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferable with a structural focus) from a university recognized by ⦁    APEGBC.
⦁    Must be registered or immediately eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with ⦁    APEGBC.
(i.e. a registered professional member in good standing in another Canadian jurisdiction that can be immediately transfer to APEGBC).
⦁    Extensive related experience in the field of structural engineering
⦁    Preference may be given to those with a minimum of 10 years of extensive related experience – This shall be based on experience in each of these three areas: bridge engineering, seismic engineering, structural instrumentation/monitoring engineering. Post graduate degrees obtained from a recognized university specific to one of these areas of engineering will be considered in determining the years of experience.
⦁    Valid Class 5, B.C. driver’s licence.
