Senior Water Business Specialist
Salary $60,531.87 – $69,104.56 annually
Water is one of British Columbia’s fundamental sustainable natural resources. The Water Management Branch leads in the delivery of provincial water programs including managing and regulating the allocation of water resources, ensuring safe and reliable community water supplies; and protecting public health and safety through River Forecast Center operations, flood hazard management, regulation of dikes and dames, and emergency response actions.
The Water Business Specialist is a key business management contact, and a lead ministry professional, for the delivery and administration of water management program business policies, practices, processes, and systems which are related to water licensing and authorizations. Relying on your experience in, and knowledge of the natural resource sector you will assist the section supervisor in the planning and development of water business management programs and processes and water-related information management systems; as well as provide specialist advice, interpretation and guidance to ministry headquarters and regional staff regarding water program policy, business processes, user access procedures, data management practices, etc.
To take on this challenge, you will have acquired experience in the field of water resource management or other comparable area of natural resource management. You will have experience advising others on business program planning and the requisite support systems or technology required to support those programs. You are a problem solver; you have an analytical aptitude and have strong skills in the use of technology. You are organized, and take pride in a job well done; you are a good verbal and written communicator and can present complex systems in a manner which is tailored to audiences with varying levels of understanding.
Qualifications for this role include:
- Undergraduate Degree in a related field such as Natural Resource Management or Computer Sciences; or an equivalent combination of related experience and education.
- Experience working at a technical or operational level or in a technical support capacity, in the natural resource sector.
- Experience with managing data and data collection/storage systems in a natural resource environment.
- Experience working with clients to provide technical expertise, guidance and support; and developing solutions to address those needs.
