We’re looking for a creative individual who is willing to participate in creating seasonal menus and designing new dishes.   • Supervise activities of specialist chefs, chefs, cooks and other kitchen workers
  • Demonstrate new cooking techniques and new equipment to cooking staff
  • Create new recipes (seasonal menus and design new dishes)
  • Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food
  • Supervise cooks and other kitchen staff
  • Analyze operating costs and other data
  • Requisition food and kitchen supplies
  • Prepare and cook food on a regular basis, or for special guests or functions
  • Prepare and cook meals or specialty foods
  • Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food
  • Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances
  • Follow recipes on the preparation, arrangement and plating of dishes per the current menu
  • Adhere to culinary standards and regulations
  • Assist with design of new menu choices based on seasonal ingredients and customer demand
  • Track, record and replenish inventory as needed
  • Demonstrate new cooking techniques and new equipment to cooking staff

Requirements:

Education: Completion of secondary school

Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience. If candidate does not have at least 3 years of experience, cook’s trade certification is required.

-Safe Food Handling certificate is an asset

-Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate is an asset

-Food Safety Certificate is an asset

-Language: English or French

Salary: $18.00 to $19.00 hourly, 35 to 44 hours per week.

Benefits: Transportation costs covered if worker needs to relocate. Meal per 5-hour shift will be provided. Gratuities as part of a tip pool based on sales levels and hours worked.

Important Information:

-Flexibility on schedule is required. There will be 35 to 44 hours of work per week but shifts vary depending on the day of the week. Shifts can be: 10am to 8pm, 12pm to 8pm, 2pm to 11pm and, 9am to 5pm. Weekend work will be required.
