An integral member of a multi-disciplinary Community Mental Health Team and in coordination with other community agencies and professionals, you provide a range of mental health services to children, youth and their families, when the child or youth is suffering from serious emotional, psychological, behavioural or psychiatric illness.

As a Family Therapist, CYMH, you demonstrate specialized knowledge and training in working with complex family systems in order to collaborate and consult with other CYMH Clinicians to deliver family therapy to families who have a child or youth impacted by mental illness and working with colleagues to develop awareness of systemic perspectives on mental illness.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Masters in Social Work, Educational Counselling, Counselling Psychology, Clinical Psychology or Child and Youth Care or comparable graduate degree at the Master’s level, or equivalent.
  • Documented, specialized training in family therapy
  • Experience working in child and youth mental health services, with responsibility for providing a wide range of family focused community based mental health services.
    • Preference may be given to applicants with at least 1 year experience working in child and youth mental health services, with responsibility for providing a wide range of family focused community based mental health services.
  • Direct experience working in family specific clinical work implementing family therapy skills and modalities such as mediation and multisystemic family therapy.
    • Preference may be given to applicants with at least 1 year direct experience working in family specific clinical work implementing family therapy skills and modalities such as mediation and multisystemic family therapy.
  • Preference may be given to applicants who have at least 1 years’ experience in delivering family therapy.
  • Preference may be given to applicants who have at least 1 years’ experience working with parents around issues related to parenting children and youth with complex mental health presentations.
  • Preference may be given to applicants who have additional training and supervision in family therapy. Trainings may include EFFT or Satir Systemic Therapy.
  • Preference may be given to clinicians who have obtained certification in the area of family therapy. Eg. AAMFT
