As a business professional, with strong business acumen and a knowledge of economics, finance, mathematics and business administration, you will apply your logical/critical thinking skills to a variety of projects in such diverse areas as Business Planning, Productivity, Internal Control, Regulatory, and Business Analytics.
Working with the Investment / Planning Manager and as part of the System Operation Support team, you will participate in the following:
Perform various functions to support preparation of the annual business plan, including: preparing schedules and instructions; gathering, assessing and accumulating corporate, subsidiary, line of business or other corporate functional unit data; preparing analyses and performing cost allocation work in support of the business plan, working papers, presentations and written materials; and identifying and resolving issues.
Reviewing processes and procedures to ensure that all planning, budgeting and reporting requirements are met and modified as required to meet changing financial needs.
Developing and participating in the review of the Asset Planning Documents for the Asset Management Investment Prioritization Process.
Participate in the update and maintenance of the Hydro One Investment Plan tool.
Prepare business requirements documents and write business cases which lead to funding approval and release. Facilitates meetings with senior business representatives and provides a liaison to Power Systems IT.
Develop 5 year staffing and space plan, projections and presentation material. Assisting with preparing the Networks / Asset Management 5 year cost savings plan, projections and presentation material.
Develop, analyze and implement divisional and/or corporate strategies, policies, procedures, and management systems in order to support the line management in a number of areas: business plan, management reporting and regulatory submissions.
Supporting in developing and administering special Studies related to Productivity, Internal Control and Business Analytics.
The work involves analyzing problems, critical thinking and diagnostic analysis.
It requires collaborating with individuals and groups across the company and creating meaningful analyses, insights and recommendations, which may include new procedures and policies.
Helping to develop, lead and support a range of productivity initiatives throughout Hydro One Networks as well as assisting in developing, tracking and reporting against productivity metrics and supporting the defense of productivity related evidence in regulatory proceedings.
Ongoing work related to productivity and cost savings management, including assisting with the development of productivity measures and monitoring performance against these measures.
Prepare issue briefs, prefiled evidence, undertakings, interrogatory responses, witness preparation briefings etc. to support the regulatory process including major Transmission and Distribution rate applications and “Leaves to Construct” (or Section 92 applications) and interactions with Hydro One Regulatory Affairs and the Ontario Energy Board (OEB).
Prepare management reports including project and investment spend tracking reports and dashboards.
Responding to ad hoc requests for business support and analysis, and performing other work as required.
Work is done collaboratively, as part of the System Operations Support team, and in cooperation with other Hydro One business units. The incumbent will be expected to participate on teams as required; assist in resolving complex issues while handling competing priorities as part of a larger work program; pay close attention to detail; and exercise tact and good judgment in communications and interactions with others.
The successful candidates will have a high degree of professionalism, initiative, and self-motivated drive. They will have a demonstrated ability to work independently as well as within teams, and assume responsibility for their work.
Specific knowledge and experience required to perform in this position:

Requires a 4 year University degree in business, economics, science, engineering or equivalent.
Requires excellent communication skills, including a strong command of English, strong business writing skills, clear and convincing verbal communications skills, and engaging and compelling presentation skills.
Excellent analytical and computer literacy skills are required. Experience in using advanced financial and business modeling tools would be considered valuable.
Requires knowledge of and experience in project management tools and methodologies in order to lead projects and lead or participate in cross functional teams, to prioritize work within multiple work programs, and to tackle complex issues, while meeting deadlines.
Familiarity with Power System IT Operations is preferred.
Familiarity with the Hydro One Investment Management process, AIP tool and SAP module is preferred. Previous positions held by the candidate will have required critical and logical thinking skills, and exceptional analytical capabilities and problem solving skills, as well as the ability to pay close attention to detail.
Previous experience in planning and budgeting practices, the regulatory arena, and project based analytical work in a large multifaceted organization are considered valuable.
Knowledge of electrical power systems and equipment as well as the design and performance of the transmission/distribution system would be considered an asset.
Familiarity with Hydro One Business Intelligence Solution and Xcelsius is preferred.
An understanding of the Company’s organization structure, business unit accountabilities, issues, processes and procedures and regulatory requirements would be considered an asset.
A period of over 6 years and up to and including 8 years is considered necessary to gain this experience.
