Senior Authorizations Specialist
Scientific Technical Officer – Resource R27

Reporting to an excluded manager, the Senior Authorizations Specialist is accountable for making natural resource authorizations decisions and recommendations on complex applications or against complex legislation and regulations.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in the natural resource field or equivalent as recognized by the relevant association and five (5) years or related experience OR
    An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Registered or eligible for registration (within 6 months) with the Association of BC Forest Professionals


Related experience must include all of the following:

  • Experience in negotiating and consulting with stakeholders in natural resource management.
  • Professional experience in forest practices such as planning, forestry, water, range, wildlife, biodiversity and integrated resource management (e.g., operations/land management planner, stewardship officer, woodlands manager, senior consultant
  • Experience supervising, leading coaching and mentoring staff.


Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Experience with Forest Tenure Authorizations and the Forest Act and the Forest & Range Practices Act (FRPA).
