The Corrections Branch, within the Ministry of Justice, plays a leading role in the criminal justice system by protecting the community through offender management and control. The Branch manages community work service and supports offenders to make positive changes in their behaviour and attitudes. Adult Custody provides custodial supervision for adults sentenced to incarceration and those remanded to custody. It provides rehabilitative and educational programs to inmates.
Under the direction of the Purchasing Officer, the Logistics Support Worker (LSW) is responsible for the warehousing and distribution of essential materials and supplies within large correctional institutional districts. The position may also be required to use a truck or van to pick up goods at local suppliers or buy items from local retailers. The LSW may be issued a Government Purchase Card for this purpose. The position may backfill in other clerical/administrative position as needed. This position may have contact with inmates in the area.

Grade 12 graduation or equivalent
Clerical/data entry experience
Experience working in a correctional centre
Experience with inventory and stock control
Post-secondary courses in purchasing and inventory control
Completion of the Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (W.H.M.I.S.) Course
Experience with computer based Inventory Control systems.
Experience with Microsoft Word
Experience with Microsoft Excel
Valid Class 5 driver’s license
Able to perform physically demanding work within WorkSafe BC Standards.
