Job Summary:

Social Program Officer Assistant
Social Worker Assistant R13

This is a temporary assignment until approximately April 2020.

An opportunity to make a difference to the lives of BC’s youth.
In this position you will interact with children, families, youth in care and foster parents and provides case management assistance to Ministry social workers, clinicians, and probation officers who maintain case management responsibility for service delivery.  Key responsibilities include assisting in the conducting of child abuse/neglect investigations, supporting youth-in-care (YIC) and service providers in independent living plan; implementing planned moves of children-in-care (CIC), maintaining contact with CIC, foster parents and families; liaising with community services for Child Youth and Special Needs; supporting the delivery of Child Youth Mental Health services; and other related duties as required.

British Columbia’s oldest interior community, Fort St. John is perfect for scenic drives, hiking, fishing, and camping, as it sits alongside the Peace River. Hiking is particularly nice in the surrounding provincial parks of Beatton Provincial Park and Charlie Lake Provincial park, where camping is also available. Its gentle rolling hills are perfect for cross-country skiing and snowmobiling in the winter months.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Minimum of grade 12 education with at least 2 years certification/diploma or post secondary education in the related field such as child and youth care, or related Human Service equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years experience working with children and youth in a directly related field.
