Various Indigenous Youth Internships
Contract positions for Youth 15 to 30 yrs. old. Must be available to work at the OFIFC office full-time over the summer. Only those selected for an interview will be contacted
Assists the Communications Coordinator in the communication functions of OFIFC.
- Currently enrolled in a: communications, public relations, journalism, or media studies field;
- 3rd or 4th year university degree OR enrolled in college diploma program;
- Future career path: Communications Coordinator, Journalism, Media Relations, Social Media coordinator, Digital media coordinator.
This position supports the research workgroup. In this position the hired candidate will be engaged in the planning for, designing and conducting OFIFC’s research projects in accordance with the USAI (Utility, Self-Voicing, Access, Inter-relationality) Research Framework.
- Interest in Indigenous cultures and the social realities that Indigenous people experience in urban settings, with the emphasis on engaging in culture-based approaches;
- Some experience with multimedia programs (for editing video, slides, audio);
- Willingness to meaningfully support community-driven research.
This position supports the Program workgroup. In this position the hired candidate will be engaged in program planning, proposal design and conducting all OFIFC’s performance measurements in accordance with the USAI (Utility, Self-Voicing, Access, Inter-relationality) Research Framework
Interest in Indigenous cultures and the social realities that Indigenous people experience in urban settings, with the emphasis on engaging in culture-based approaches;
- Written communication skills (essay and report writing);
- Some experience with program management;
- Willingness to meaningfully support Friendship Centre communities.
The tasks and responsibilities of this position support the Training workgroup and will engage and participate in some OFIFC trainings.
- Knowledge of training and curriculum development and design;
- Strong knowledge and sensitivity to Indigenous issues, communities, values, traditions, cultural norms and practice;
- Knowledge of e-learning platforms is considered an asset;
- Development of training resources;
Provides support to the Policy workgroup, assisting with advancing supportive public policy, advocating and building support for urban Indigenous issues
- Knowledge of government organisational structures and legislative processes;
- Excellent writing skills and ability to document clearly and succinctly for internal and external audiences;
- Experience in research, both qualitative and quantitative.
This position supports the Finance workgroup
- Currently enrolled in any of the following programs: Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, and Payroll Coordination.
