Labrador Inuit youth are gearing up to get ready for the 15th annual Labrador Inuit Youth Symposium.
Heather Angnatok, the Administrator for the division of Youth, Elders, and Recreation, is pleased to announce the event again this year.She says the youth will be travelling to Rigolet this Thursday for the four day symposium.
The symposium will begin with a career fair on Friday which will feature displays by groups such as Inuit Pathway’s, the College of the North Atlantic, and Aurora Energy Incorporated.
Other highlights include presentations from the Nunatsiavut Government’s Departments and regular Rising Youth Council business.
Angnatok adds that included in the business is the election of the vacant position of President of the Rising Youth Council of Nunatsiavut.
The Department of Health will also attend the event to deliver a healthy lifestyles workshop.
And the youth will also be treated to a powerful performance from Natuashish youth called “The Dancer”.
Angnatok adds that in other news, members of the Division of Youth, Elders, and Recreation will be travelling to Nunatsiavut communities in the near future. They’ll visit the communities to educate the youth in those communities on the role of the division and the Rising Youth Council of Nunatsiavut.
