2009 Literacy Budget Initiatives: Call For Proposal Announcement

On July 2, 2009 the Government of Ontario announced the investment of $25 million through the delivery of the Literacy and Basic Skills Program in colleges, school boards and community literacy organizations in the Employment Ontario network. In addition, $5 million was provided to expand on-line literacy training to create more opportunities for learners living in remote communities.The remaining $15 million is allocated for Workplace and Community Workforce Literacy. $13.5 million will be awarded through a Call for Proposal (CFP) process for Workplace and Community Workforce Literacy and Essential Skills projects. The funding is allocated to enhance and expand current literacy and essential skills services to include employers, the workplace, communities and the workforce and their particular employment, education and training needs.
All questions regarding the CFP must be submitted to Aris Engelhard, Employment Program Consultant at Aris.Engelhard[at]ontario.ca or by fax to his attention at: 416 325-6162 by 5 p.m. September 15, 2009. Questions and answers will be available on the Employment Ontario Partners’ Gateway (EOPG) website by September 21, 2009.
