AFOA CANADA HONOURING RECIPIENTS OF 2017 POTASHCORP ABORIGINAL YOUTH FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT AWARDS

Ottawa, ON-January 31, 2017 – AFOA Canada will recognize the 2017 recipients of the PotashCorp Aboriginal Youth Financial Management Awards on Wednesday, February 8 during a special luncheon at AFOA Canada’s 17^th Annual National Conference in Calgary, Alberta.

The PotashCorp Aboriginal Youth Financial Management Awards will be presented to:

1. ROBYN BLACK, Mistawasis First Nation, Leask Community School, Leask, SK
2. BRANDON HUDSON, Bearskin Lake First Nation, Queen Elizabeth District High School, Sioux Lookout, ON
3. CHRISTIAN WIGGER, Saddle Lake Cree Nation, Old Scona Academic High School, Edmonton, AB

About the Award

Launched in 2007, this award was created by AFOA Canada to address demand in our communities for Aboriginal financial management professionals. With the generous sponsorship and support of PotashCorp, we are celebrating 11 successful years!

The Awards are open to all Aboriginal youth in grades 11 and 12. Applicants are required to submit an essay which is reviewed and ranked by a selection committee.

Recipients will be flown to Calgary to participate in AFOA Canada’s 17th Annual National Conference and special youth program. Students are introduced to career opportunities in financial management, meet financial management and academic professionals, as well as Aboriginal Leaders, and are provided with information on pursuing an education in financial management. All award recipients also become eligible for a $5,000 scholarship.
