Alberta Government Supports Community Organizations To Develop Leadership

Edmonton… Funding from the Alberta government’s Human Rights, Citizenship and Multiculturalism Education Fund will help 15 community-based organizations to increase leadership skills within the community to encourage active participation of women, immigrants, youth and members of the Aboriginal community.“These grants are an investment in Albertans and our communities,” said Lindsay Blackett, Minister of Culture and Community Spirit. “They will build individual and organizational skills that will help increase opportunities for the participation of all Albertans in the life of the province.”
The Human Rights, Citizenship and Multiculturalism Education Fund will provide about $650,000 in grants that will assist organizations to increase their ability to help Albertans develop initiatives and organizations that are equitable, fair and inclusive of all Albertans.
“The recipients of these grants are building vibrant and healthy communities where everyone can feel like they belong,” said Thomas Lukaszuk, MLA for Edmonton-Castle Downs and Chair of the Human Rights, Citizenship and Multiculturalism Education Fund.
The Human Rights, Citizenship and Multiculturalism Education Fund supports the Alberta government’s efforts to foster equality, promote fairness, and encourage the creation of inclusive workplaces and communities.
