APTN Announces Aboriginal Day Live Radio Partners

APTN ANNOUNCES ABORIGINAL DAY LIVE RADIO PARTNERS

June 10, 2013,   Winnipeg, Manitoba – On Saturday, June 22 all Canadians are invited to join Canada’s largest celebration of National Aboriginal Day. In addition to enjoying Aboriginal Day Live & Celebration at The Forks in Winnipeg and the Arctic Winter Games Arena in Iqaluit, or via the LIVE television broadcast, online and mobile devices, Canadians will also be able to tune in via the radio waves.

The APTN exclusive four hour broadcast of Aboriginal Day Live airs Saturday, June 22 at 7:30 p.m. CT (6:30 MT; 9:00 p.m. ET).   

PARTNER RADIO STATIONS:

• Alberta: CFWE (various call numbers) will broadcast province-wide. Hawk Radio 89.1 FM in Hobbema, home to Samson Cree Nation.
• Manitoba: NCI 105.5 FM will broadcast province-wide. Listen to STREETZ 104.7 FM in Winnipeg.
• Northern British Columbia, Yukon and Mackenzie Delta: Listen to CHON 98.1 FM in Whitehorse and CHON 90.5 in other communities. 
• Ontario: Available on the Wawatay Radio Network which serves much of Northwestern Ontario including the Nishnawbe Aski Nation and Treaty 3 area.
• Saskatchewan: Missinipi Broadcasting Corporation (various call numbers) Available in communities throughout North, Central and parts of Southern Saskatchewan on the Missinipi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) network.

Hosts for the Winnipeg concert include Michelle Thrush, star of the APTN hit series Blackstone and Derek Miller, Juno Award-winning, Mohawk rocker. Don Kelly, star of the APTN hit series Fish Out of Water will host the main stage performance in Iqaluit, alongside co-host Madeleine Allakariallak and backstage hosts will be Qanurli? stars Thomas Anguti Johnston and Vinnie Karetak.

The celebration is in its seventh year, and the Winnipeg main stage artists include A Tribe Called Red; Crystal Shawanda; Dallas Arcand;George Leach; Kathia Rock; Sagkeeng’s Finest; and War Party. Also, Tanya Tagaq will awe you with her unique blend of Inuit throat singing. Iqaluit main stage artists include Artcirq; Leela Gilday; Nelson Tagoona; Saali; Saina Singer; and Sinuupa. Also performing a special set isSusan Aglukark, one of Canada’s most unique and most honoured artists.

Le 10 juin 2013, Winnipeg (Manitoba) – Le samedi 22 juin, tous les Canadiens sont invités à prendre part aux plus grandes festivités au Canada de la Journée nationale des Autochtones. En plus de célébrer la Journée nationale des Autochtones en direct à La Fourche, Winnipeg, et à l’aréna des Jeux d’hiver de l’Arctique, à Iqaluit, ou encore de la suivre EN DIRECT à la télé, en ligne et sur des appareils mobiles, les Canadiens pourront capter l’événement sur les ondes de la radio.

Étalée sur quatre heures, la télédiffusion exclusive qu’APTN fera de la Journée nationale des Autochtones en direct sera présentée le samedi 22 juin à 19 h 30, HC (18 h 30, HR; 21 h, HE).
