APTN Announces Gemini Nominations 2007

Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN) is pleased to recognize those programs associated with the network which recently received Gemini Award nominations for industry excellence.
Nominees for the 22nd Annual Gemini Awards, announced by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television on Tuesday August 28th, 2007, include two of the network’s popular series: Wapos Bay and renegadepress.com, each of which has received nominations for the third consecutive year. Both programs received funding from and/or were commissioned by APTN through Canadian independent producers.Also nominated for Best Production Design or Art Direction in a Non-Fiction Program or Series was the 2007 National Aboriginal Achievement Awards, which APTN sponsored and partnered with Global Television to broadcast.
renegadepress.com’s “Blackout” episode was also nominated for Best Television Series Family from the Director’s Guild of Canada (DCG). The 2007 DGC Awards will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2007 at the Carlu event theatre in Toronto.

2007 National Aboriginal Achievement Awards
The Canadian television industry will gather in Toronto at the Liberty Grand on October 15th, 16th, and 17th for the News, Documentary and Sports Gala, Lifestyle, Children’s and Youth Gala and Drama, Comedy and Variety Gala respectively. The 22nd Gemini Awards will be presented on October 28th, at the Conexus Arts Centre in Regina, Saskatchewan.
