APTN Announces Sponsorship Of Manito Ahbee Festival
Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN) is proud to announce it will once again be a lead sponsor of Manito Ahbee: A Festival For All Nations. The 2nd annual celebration will take place in Winnipeg at the MTS Centre from October 26th through November 4th.
Manito Ahbee: A Festival For All Nations celebrates and promotes Aboriginal culture by showcasing a wide array of international audio, visual, and cultural talent. The inaugural Manito Ahbee festival in 2006 was such a success that this year’s edition will be expanded to 10-days.Building on the five main components – International Competition Pow Wow, Education Day, Music Festival, Indigenous Marketplace & Trade Show, and the Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards – additions to the 2007 festival will include a Métis Celebration, a Visual Arts component and expansion of the Music Fest and Education Day programs.
APTN and Bell ExpressVu will once again partner as the exclusive host broadcasters, for the 2nd annual Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards LIVE from the MTS Centre, in Winnipeg, Manitoba on November 2nd. The awards show, hosted for the second time by Lorne Cardinal and newcomer Gabrielle Miller (both of Corner Gas fame), will feature the best of Aboriginal music today in a variety of genres. APTN First Night will kick off to the Aboriginal Peoples Choice Awards on November 1st, at the Mc Phillips Street Station in Winnipeg. This is an invitation only event, which will honour various Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards categories.
On-line voting for the Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards got underway on August 13th. Polls are open for 26 days and APCMA members are encouraged to vote for their favourite nominees (for membership and voting information please see the APCMA website at: http://aboriginalpeopleschoice.com/signup).
