APTN Unveils Network Re-brand
Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN) has undergone a re-brand of its network which includes on-air, on-line and news production components. The network will roll out its new ‘face’ throughout March.Developed in collaboration with Identica Branding & Design and Loopmedia Inc., APTN’s new on-air branding consists of new colours, design, and ‘attitude’, a complete website re-design, and a new studio to backdrop APTN National News. The on-air re-brand also includes a new look for the popular APTN Kids commercial-free programming.
“We at APTN have worked very hard over the past year to conceptualize and build a new and vibrant re-brand for the network, and we’re very excited to share it with our viewers,” says APTN Director of Marketing, Sky Bridges. “APTN has grown significantly over the past 10 years and we felt it was time our on-air look reflected the incredible progress we’ve made as a national broadcaster. The unveiling of the re-brand coincides with APTN’s launch of its 2009 spring broadcast season and serves to showcase an exciting programming schedule that promotes and celebrates Canadian content across all genres. From the hilarious antics of comedian Don Kelly in Fish Out of Water, to the harsh realities of the ring in Warriors: TKO or the climb to stardom in Crystal: Living the Dream, APTN entertains and enlightens. APTN National News will also return front and centre with its new, hour-long evening edition. This new format of APTN’s flagship will deliver the news of the day and provide a more in-depth look at the issues facing Aboriginal communities in Canada. Viewers can count on APTN for news that not only informs, but inspires.
APTN, Canada’s first and only Aboriginal television network, will celebrate its tenth anniversary in September, 2009. The network is also preparing for its role as a member of the 2010 Olympic Broadcast Consortium and the world’s first Aboriginal Olympic broadcaster.
September 1, 2009 will mark the 10-year anniversary of the launch of the first national Aboriginal television network in the world with programming by, for and about Aboriginal Peoples to share with all Canadians and viewers around the world. APTN is available in approximately 10 million Canadian households and commercial establishments with cable, direct-to-home satellite (DTH), telco-delivered and fixed wireless television service providers. APTN does not receive government funding for operations but generates revenue through subscriber fees, advertising sales and strategic partnerships.
