Team Trudeau’s final pre-election budget — or, more accurately, Finance Minister Bill Morneau’s omnibus proposal to implement the new provisions contained therein — is still under review at FINANCE, TRANSPORT and INDIGINEOUS AFFAIRS, where MPs are dutifully working their way through the sections assigned to their respective committees for examination.
That’s not the only major government initiative on the to-do list at INAN, however, which is also going through the fine print of Indigenous Affairs Minister Seamus O’Regan’s bid to overhaul federal support systems available to First Nations, Inuit and Metis families and children, with Indigenous rights advocate and lawyer Pam Palmater among the witnesses expected to testify this morning.
