Garry Bailey will serve a fourth term as president of the Northwest Territory Métis Nation.

Bailey was acclaimed to the post last week, joining Betty Villebrun – voted in as vice-president – and Paul Harrington, who was acclaimed as secretary-treasurer, on the executive.

The election took place at the Métis Nation’s annual general assembly, where a resolution was also passed to change the executive term of office from two years to four.

This means by the time Bailey’s fourth year of his fourth term is up, he will have served 10 years as president.

“I just really want to thank everybody and I hope I earn their respect and I do justice for them,” he said after the election.
