SUDBURY – The Cambrian College Board of Governors has renewed President Bill Best for a second term leading the College, effective immediately.

“We are very pleased to have Bill continue his tremendous leadership of Cambrian College,” says Ron Sarazin, Chair of Cambrian’s Board of Governors, and Chair of the Cambrian Circle for Indigenous Education. “Under Bill’s direction the College has experienced record growth. We have completed a 5-year strategic plan – ahead of schedule – that has seen Cambrian advance in a number of areas, including internationalization, applied research and indigenous education, while we continue to serve the needs of regional learners and industry. The Board looks forward to continuing to work with Bill as we embark upon a new strategic plan later this year.”

Bill Best has served as Cambrian’s President since August of 2014. Prior to joining Cambrian College, Best spent eight years at New Brunswick Community College in Fredericton, where he served in numerous senior executive roles, including Interim President and CEO, Vice President Finance and Administration, and Vice President Academic and Student Development.

In addition to his duties as Cambrian President, Best also serves as Chair of the Board of Directors for the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association, and has served as a regular faculty member for Colleges and Institutes Canada (CiCan).

Under Bill’s leadership, Cambrian College has evolved into a year-round global college. Investment in teaching and learning has been unprecedented, and the College has embarked on an aggressive new program development plan in order to provide additional program offerings to students. More so, overall enrollment has reached record levels, international student enrollment has tripled, and Cambrian has emerged as a national leader in applied research and indigenous education.

“I am excited to continue as Cambrian’s President,” says Bill Best. “The College and the entire community of Sudbury have been incredibly welcoming of my family and me. This is a wonderful place to live and work, and I am both humbled and energized to continue to be a part of a dynamic team of faculty, staff and students at Cambrian and to build upon the momentum we have generated these last few years.”
